Green Shoes

Green Shoes is a shoemaking business where shoes have been hand made since 1981 in their workshop in Devon. They endeavour to keep their environmental impact low by making long-lasting and repairable footwear.

Ed has worked at Green shoes since 2021 and has quickly become a vital member of the team. His willingness to learn, listen and his attention to detail is an amazing skill. He pushes and probes at the process of shoe-making and asks questions of leather working: how to become more efficient, precise and get the best out of the material.

When working alongside an experienced Saddlery, Ed was drawn to the robust, heavy-duty objects made from workable leathers and fixings. From this, his interest has stemmed from the visceral and physical relationship between hands, material and object. His own practice then led him to make belts and pouches from local sourced vegetable tanned leather.
