This year, as part of our 40th birthday, we are celebrating the best 40 under 40 makers and our 2022 - 2023 Schoalrship winner, Lucy Ellis. Over the next 12 months, we will be promoting our 40 makers' skill, craftsmanship and businesses. We just wanted to take a minute and congratulate all of our 40 under 40 makers on their achievements in this years SMS National Competition, we are incredibly proud of you!This year there were almost 150 entries and as well as our 40 under 40 makers, each and every one who entered the competition are customers of our who we support with everything they do on a daily basis.
We are so proud to be able to help all of our customers and give them guidance when they need it, so for them all to be recognised by the SMS for their highly skilled work is a privilege to see.

Since meeting Lucy back in 2018, we have been in awe of her progress and have thoroughly enjoyed watching her become an establish Master Saddler and businesswoman.
Lucy launched her business, Lucy Ellis Leatherwork in 2019, with a passion to create beautiful products using traditional methods. She felt there was a lack of genuine, high-quality leatherwork that is built to last, just like the good old days. With years of experience in the equestrian business, Lucy has a diverse range of skills.On her website, Lucy explains âCreating things has always come naturally to me. That coupled with my love for horses led me to saddlery and leatherwork. I take pride in every piece I create. I only use premium materials and even though itâs a bit clichĂ©, a little bit of love goes into every stitch.â

Alison Goodman is a talented artisan, based in Cornwall who has a love for sharing her skills with the local community, all while offering job opportunities to other makers from the UK.
She runs and operates Francli Craftwear, a brand that produces function-led workwear, tools and accessories for rural-based craftspeople, completely handmade with repurposed materials.Francli also offer custom-made rucksacks to suit your lifestyle needs and using the finest materials to do so.

Amie Kennedy is a leatherworker based in Maine, USA. She makes bags, totes, belts and small leather accessories under her business name Kennedy & Company.
Every piece made is created by Amieâs hands and focuses on combining unique found and salvaged textiles, with modern materials to produce beautiful, utilitarian goods. Amy Baldwin Saddles
Amy Baldwin is a qualified saddler and saddler fitter based in the North West of England.
Amy trained under Master Saddler Chris Taylor and Master Saddler and Harness Maker Louise Palmer at Saddlers Den. Â Amyâs skill and craftsmanship has been recognised several times by the National Saddlery Competition and received 2nd place in Class 2b in 2017 and 3rd place in class 4 in 2020.Amy demonstrates excellent saddlery skills and now specialises in saddlery and saddle fitting.

Anna Melegh
Anna is a footwear and accessories designer, turning everyday objects inside out by using methods of surrealism.
Annaâs number one ambition is to be part of the change for creating a more sustainable future for the fashion industry by expanding her knowledge and exploring tanning techniques and materials.Annaâs work has earned her a place as a finalist in the Cordwainers Footwear Student of the Year AND the GFW Footwear Award. She now works as a full-time cobbler at Christian Louboutin.

Bonnie Dale is an inspiring saddler and leatherworker who is currently studying Saddlery at Capel Manor College.
Already, Bonnie is showing clear signs of talent and skill and was named runner up in the Society of Master Saddlers Trainee Bridle Making Competition in 2022.

Orris Leather
Chris and Ed are the founders of award-winning Orris Leather based in West Dorset making luxury leather goods.
The business was set up in 2020 with both Chris and Ed pursuing their skill and passion for leatherwork. Since establishing Orris Leather, the guys have gone onto making award-winning luxury leather goods including belts, wallets, shoulder bags and dog collars.Chris has shown some incredible skill in the past 2 years, developing his skills and is fearless is trying new designs and making custom orders. Even more so as he is self-taught in leatherwork.
Ed is the other half of Orris Leather, when he's not working as a health care professional for the NHS, he puts his all into his leatherwork. Ed is incredibly creative and meticulous with his amazing creations, and an amazing inspiration to Chris with his continuous encouragement.

Three Shires Saddlery And Harness
Chloe started Three Shires Saddlery and Harness whilst studying for the Worshipful Company of Cordwainersâ Diploma in Saddle, Harness and Bridle Making at The Princess Royal College of Animal Management and Saddlery in London.
She is now a qualified Saddler recognised by the Society of Master Saddlers and has won numerous awards for her work. Although horses are her passion, her range of work includes bespoke dog collars and leads, saddle handbags and belts.She also holds The Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust Bursary.

Christie Farren
Christie Farren is a British Army Saddler to The Kings Troop RHA in Woolwich. Since the beginning of 2021, she has successfully completed the Introduction to the Science of Lorinery for which she received a distinction, and has taken part in the Society of Master Saddlers Introductory Bridle Fitting Course while simultaneously passing her military exams.
Christie was awarded our 2021 Scholarship for Saddlery and Leatherwork. Whilst her work with the Army helps keeps horses safe, she also has an incredible passion and talent for show jumping and even qualified for the British Show Jumping National Championships in 2021.Â

Claudio
Claudio, originally from Italy, first found his love for leather products when he started to customise his own motorbike.
After searching the internet, he couldnât find a seat he like so decided to make one himself, which then turned into making one for a friend. Lots of practice later, Claudio decided he could turn his hobby into a full-time business.Fast-forward to today and his work is sold globally, bespoke orders with the customer's needs met every step of the way. Claudio is prepared to work with the customer to make whatever it is that they require.

CK Leatherworks
From a very young age Corrie has always known she would have a career with horses and her business CK Leatherworks is now her reality, specialising in bespoke bridles and browbands. Â
Corrie started her training at Capel Manor College where she spent 2 years learning the ins and outs of Saddle, Bridle and Harness making and then became an apprentice. She has since gone on to become one of the youngest Master Saddlers.As well as being a part-time leatherworker and saddler making bespoke items for horses, dogs and people, she is also a Firefighter.

Green Shoes
Green Shoes is a shoemaking business where shoes have been hand made since 1981 in their workshop in Devon. They endeavour to keep their environmental impact low by making long-lasting and repairable footwear.
Ed has worked at Green shoes since 2021 and has quickly become a vital member of the team. His willingness to learn, listen and his attention to detail is an amazing skill. He pushes and probes at the process of shoe-making and asks questions of leather working: how to become more efficient, precise and get the best out of the material.When working alongside an experienced Saddlery, Ed was drawn to the robust, heavy-duty objects made from workable leathers and fixings. From this, his interest has stemmed from the visceral and physical relationship between hands, material and object. His own practice then led him to make belts and pouches from local sourced vegetable tanned leather.

Emma Hamilton LeatherworkÂ
Emma is a Society of Master Saddlers qualified Saddler and Bridle Maker. Emma set up her business earlier this year (2022) specialising in making and fitting bespoke bridles and other tack as well as offering a leather repair service.
She completed a 3 year apprentice from 2018-2021 which was funded by The Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust and won 1st prize and a premium award for her saddle at The Worshipful Company of Saddlers National Saddlery Competition in 2021.Emma remains passionate in using her saddlery and leatherworking skills to improve the welfare and comfort of horses, particularly in her local area (Glasgow and west central Scotland).

Following a successful career in Accessories design and development, Georgie is on a mission to keep British craft and industry alive. Georginaâs passion for bag design and creation has taken her on a journey making bags for big name brands to starting her dream bespoke bag making business.For the last 10 years, Georgie has been creating, crafting and teaching leatherwork for over 10 years. She now also works as a Leather Accessories Technical lecturer at the London College of Fashion and continues to work on private bespoke work and consultancy work.

He has served in the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery and completed a four year Apprenticeship under the Worshipful Company of Saddlers Millennium Apprenticeship scheme. Since then, Godfrey has gained Master Saddler status with the Society of Master Saddlers and has continued to grow his knowledge and experience in the Leather Trade.Godfrey has a vision to provide his customers with traditional, timeless and unique quality leather products that are made to last a lifetime. Verdant creates bespoke leather items in the traditional way to last a lifetime. They use the finest leathers & threads in all of their hand made & handstitched products including leather handbags, belts, satchels, rucksacks, in fact anything from leather to suit your individual requirements & designs.Â

At University she studied Costume Design and Making pushing herself to constantly learn and gain more skills which led her to training in leatherwork, where she found a passion for leatherwork and hasnât looked back!She currently used her skills on a day-to-day basis with her role as Leatherworker and renowned gun makers, Westley Richards.

Jo has been in the leathercraft industry since 2007. Traditionally trained as a saddler through the Cordwainers Diploma at Capel Manor College, before completing the Modern and Millennium apprenticeship schemed run by City & Guilds.
The knowledge she has gained from her years in the industry and her eye for perfection has led her to winning many awards.Jo has been a member of the prestigious Society of Master Saddlers since 2013, giving you peace of mind that you are in the hands of a true master.
J.H. Leather offers a range of outstanding products for you to choose from, or you can commission your own unique item. She also offers one to one workshop days, so you too can learn the art of leather craft. In 2021 Jo also started to offer online training sessions held via video call. She also runs a very successful YouTube channel where you can watch free tutorial videos as well as watch the make along instructional videos that form part of her pattern packs.

Master Bridle maker, Kelly Jones crafts bespoke bridles and other small leather goods from her studio in the West Sussex countryside.
A true perfectionist and passionate equestrian, Kelly has become a member of the Society of Master Saddlers and works with leading riders in several disciplines.As well as her job crafting beautiful bridles, Kelly also has her own horse and loves eventing with him, once taking part in a hunter trial completing it in 3 minutes 30 seconds â an impressive time to say the least. Â She is also a keen photographer, particularly in equine photography which she has taught herself.

Kindred started his leatherwork journey in 2016 with commissions for friends and family. Soon after, his passion for leatherwork and woodwork encourage him to pursue a new business venture, Caledonian Craftsman.
Kindred produces high quality pieces using authentic and traditional methods of leatherworking. In particular, his work is heavily involved in the cultural and historical sector and as a result, his crafts have contributed to reviving and promoting Scottish culture and heritage.He is very focused on the environment, with the products he uses only coming from sustainable tanneries around the world. Kindred also only uses wood that is FSC certified or that is collected by himself as deadwood on forest floors or driftwood.

Kingsley Leather
After years of a normal office job, Kingsley was bored of normal office life and wanted something to take him away from the computer and creatively challenge him. He was inspired to take up leatherwork as things he was buying werenât lasting and he wanted to start creating quality leather products that would last.
A few months of practising led to his work being noticed by his friends and family, which led to his first set of commissions. After creating a leather satchel for his girlfriend, a wallet for his brother, and plenty of belts, Kingsley decided to offer his services to the paying public. Since then, he has never looked back and now works full time as a leatherworker.Kingsley continues to show and develop great skill, and his work was acknowledged when he was a finalist of the 2022 Etsy Design Awards.

Lily started her training at The Princess Royal Capel Manor College in London where she spent 2 years and achieved her Level 3 Diploma in Saddlery.
She then began an apprenticeship where she has completed all her final City and Guilds qualifications and became a Qualified Saddler and Harness Maker with the Society of Master Saddlers.She has also received an award from Princess Ann at the National Saddlery Competition in 2020 after winning 2 of her classes and the Les Coker Millennium Trophy and the Worshipful Company of Saddlers Award.
Lily now has her own business creating beautiful leather pieces from hand for all sorts of industries as well as saddle fitting and repairs.

The Irish Saddler
Lucy has always loved with working with horses and dogs. This encouraged her to move to Enfield, London in 2016 to pursue a career in saddlery. During her time in Enfield, Lucy embarked on a 2-year Saddlery course with Capel Manor College where she gained the essential skills to start her business, The Irish Saddler.
Since returning to Ireland, she has continued to develop her skills in Saddlery and Leatherwork regularly travelling back to England to undertake further qualifications which means she is able to supply her customers with luxury bespoke saddlery and leather items.As well as being Abbeyâs 2019 Scholarship winner she has many qualifications, scholarships, bursaries and awards including Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust: Scholarship for Horse collar making and fitting, Design and Crafts Council of Ireland "Future Maker" 2019, Member of the Heritage Crafts Association and Intermediate Sadder of the Society of Master Saddlers .

Ludivine is a leatherworker from France. Having started off her career with a passion for the horse and leather, she has able to become a talented craftswoman  and saddler specialising in highly artistic bridles, saddles and harnesses.
Her approach to saddlery means she always put the horseâs welfare first.Ludivineâs work incorporates a beautiful mix of carving on leather and fine stone ornaments, Â all designed by herself.

Mathilde graduated from the IFCE Haras National du Pin, and is currently pursuing a master's degree in Artisan Sellier at the same place.

ten°cloudy is a London-based studio of statement leather accessories and costume jewellery with an emphasis on uniqueness and sustainability.
Natashaâs childhood was filled with a love for fashion which ultimately has landed her with  her dream career.  The business started to take shape when she attended a master class in bag making, there was a natural continuation with more classes and courses and a collaboration until here we are today with an amazing brand making leather accessories and costume jewellery.She was also Abbey's 2020 Scholarship Winner.

Lok Saddlery
Rachel runs Lok Saddlery & Leatherwork Ltd and is a qualified Saddler, Saddle Fitter and more recently a qualified Harness Maker working with a wide range of bespoke pieces.
Rachel studied at Capel Manor College for two years before training in saddle fitting at a saddlery in Devon and started working with David Dyer Saddles in May 2019. She has completed her training at the Saddlery Training Centre in Salisbury and competes in the National Saddlery Competition every year!

Rok is a full time leather worker and saddler from Slovenia
He got into the industry because of  his love of rollerblading, after having to learn to repair his jeans on a regular basis! After having a really nice bag that needed a repair he decided to make one for himself which in his words were a disaster but after a few more tries and lots of practice he was able to create a bag which he loved and has now been working with leather for 10 years.All of his items are made using the best products, hand sewn, hand skived and made to order.

SB Collars
CoH Samuel Belasco joined the Household Cavalry as a Trooper aged 18 where he served for 2 years before he started his apprenticeship for a role in the Saddlers Shop. After 5 years of multiple theory and practice exams he finished the apprenticeship with a qualification form the Society of Saddlers.
As a Saddler, he is responsible for the correct sizing, fitting, security and quality of tack & saddles for each individual horse within the Regiment!
Now a Master Saddler of The Household Cavalry he also assesses the City & Guilds exams for upcoming apprentices and students as well as judging at the National Saddlery Competition. Â As if this isnât enough, he has his own business SB Collars where he creates custom made dog collars, leather and Saddlery goods by hand.

The London Leather Workshop
Sara and Melissa are the designers and makers and the founders of The London Leather Workshop.
After graduating in Fashion & Accessory Design, they  worked in different sectors of the industry both in Italy and the UK until they pursued their idea of creating a business, blending their joint range of expertise. This is how The London Leather Workshop was born in 2012.
With 20 years of experience in the field, they each have developed different strengths and skillsets and, as a team, they can offer a vast range of services under one roof, from design consultancy to product development and from prototyping to material sourcing and manufacturing.Today, The London Leather Workshop assists national and international customers, from startups to established brands and has been helping to form the latest generation of designers and makers through a wide range of learning opportunities.
They are also proud to partner with The Princeâs Trust Enterprise Programme, supporting young entrepreneurs at the early stages of their business development by delivering free training to these individuals and we are very grateful for the opportunity to continue sharing, educating and supporting those in our community

Signe Dreyer
Signe Dreyer is a trained saddle maker through The Society of Master Saddlers from Capel Manor College, where she has made several saddles from scratch, as well as various bridles and harnesses.
In England she also took a course in saddle fitting, and subsequently she has worked with saddle fitting, new sale of saddles, adjustments, repairs etc. in established saddle making companies.
She is working towards becoming a Master Saddler starting with entering the National Saddlery Competition with a saddle and winning Class 3a.Â
Signeâs passion for horses started early in childhood and it has not diminished over the years. She is an active hobby rider who enjoys a good ride in the woods, but also rides an LA in dressage every now and then with her faithful partner Callaghan.Â
Zoe HurstÂ

Zoe Hurst
Zoe studied Leatherworking at Capel Manor College and is currently completing the Friends of the Cotswolds Craft Apprenticeship at Cirencester Saddlery guided by Master Saddler Laurence Pearman.
Competing in the Society of Master Saddlers (SMS) Competition at BETA International and also Herefordshire County Show, Zoe placed third in the Trainee Harness class, first overall and won the Overall Entried Special Award. She was awarded the Coach Harness Makers Bursary at the end of her first year training and the Graduate Bursary at the end of her second year, and has completed her Level 3 Bespoke Saddler qualification.Zoe is a Society of Master Saddlers Qualified Saddler.Â

MasterClass from a Master Saddler
Our top 40 makers will be celebrated across our social channels, as well as having the opportunity to experience an exclusive masterclass workshop with the BBCâs Repair Shop star, Suzie Fletcher, Master Saddler. The 40 successful makers will be invited to attend this event in the autumn of 2022.
âCelebrating and encouraging the best of British young makers is so important to me. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to lead this masterclass and hopefully inspire others to create beautiful things with leather.â
Suzie Fletcher, Master SaddlerWhen sheâs not filming for the BBCâs Repair Shop, Suzie specialises in saddle making, especially for women, saddler repair, overhaul and retro fitting of saddles as well as restorations for leathergoods and leather furniture.

We just wanted to take a minute and congratulate all of our 40 under 40 makers on their achievements in this years SMS National Competition, we are incredibly proud of you!This year there were almost 150 entries and as well as our 40 under 40 makers, each and every one who entered the competition are customers of our who we support with everything they do on a daily basis.
We are so proud to be able to help all of our customers and give them guidance when they need it, so for them all to be recognised by the SMS for their highly skilled work is a privilege to see.

Since meeting Lucy back in 2018, we have been in awe of her progress and have thoroughly enjoyed watching her become an establish Master Saddler and businesswoman.
Lucy launched her business, Lucy Ellis Leatherwork in 2019, with a passion to create beautiful products using traditional methods. She felt there was a lack of genuine, high-quality leatherwork that is built to last, just like the good old days. With years of experience in the equestrian business, Lucy has a diverse range of skills.On her website, Lucy explains âCreating things has always come naturally to me. That coupled with my love for horses led me to saddlery and leatherwork. I take pride in every piece I create. I only use premium materials and even though itâs a bit clichĂ©, a little bit of love goes into every stitch.â

Amy trained under Master Saddler Chris Taylor and Master Saddler and Harness Maker Louise Palmer at Saddlers Den. Â Amyâs skill and craftsmanship has been recognised several times by the National Saddlery Competition and received 2nd place in Class 2b in 2017 and 3rd place in class 4 in 2020.Amy demonstrates excellent saddlery skills and now specialises in saddlery and saddle fitting.

Chris and Ed are the founders of award-winning Orris Leather based in West Dorset making luxury leather goods.
The business was set up in 2020 with both Chris and Ed pursuing their skill and passion for leatherwork. Since establishing Orris Leather, the guys have gone onto making award-winning luxury leather goods including belts, wallets, shoulder bags and dog collars.Chris has shown some incredible skill in the past 2 years, developing his skills and is fearless is trying new designs and making custom orders. Even more so as he is self-taught in leatherwork.
Ed is the other half of Orris Leather, when he's not working as a health care professional for the NHS, he puts his all into his leatherwork. Ed is incredibly creative and meticulous with his amazing creations, and an amazing inspiration to Chris with his continuous encouragement.

Chloe started Three Shires Saddlery and Harness whilst studying for the Worshipful Company of Cordwainersâ Diploma in Saddle, Harness and Bridle Making at The Princess Royal College of Animal Management and Saddlery in London.
She is now a qualified Saddler recognised by the Society of Master Saddlers and has won numerous awards for her work. Although horses are her passion, her range of work includes bespoke dog collars and leads, saddle handbags and belts.She also holds The Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust Bursary.

Christie Farren
Christie Farren is a British Army Saddler to The Kings Troop RHA in Woolwich. Since the beginning of 2021, she has successfully completed the Introduction to the Science of Lorinery for which she received a distinction, and has taken part in the Society of Master Saddlers Introductory Bridle Fitting Course while simultaneously passing her military exams.
Christie was awarded our 2021 Scholarship for Saddlery and Leatherwork. Whilst her work with the Army helps keeps horses safe, she also has an incredible passion and talent for show jumping and even qualified for the British Show Jumping National Championships in 2021.Â

Claudio
Claudio, originally from Italy, first found his love for leather products when he started to customise his own motorbike.
After searching the internet, he couldnât find a seat he like so decided to make one himself, which then turned into making one for a friend. Lots of practice later, Claudio decided he could turn his hobby into a full-time business.Fast-forward to today and his work is sold globally, bespoke orders with the customer's needs met every step of the way. Claudio is prepared to work with the customer to make whatever it is that they require.

From a very young age Corrie has always known she would have a career with horses and her business CK Leatherworks is now her reality, specialising in bespoke bridles and browbands. Â
Corrie started her training at Capel Manor College where she spent 2 years learning the ins and outs of Saddle, Bridle and Harness making and then became an apprentice. She has since gone on to become one of the youngest Master Saddlers.As well as being a part-time leatherworker and saddler making bespoke items for horses, dogs and people, she is also a Firefighter.

Green Shoes is a shoemaking business where shoes have been hand made since 1981 in their workshop in Devon. They endeavour to keep their environmental impact low by making long-lasting and repairable footwear.
Ed has worked at Green shoes since 2021 and has quickly become a vital member of the team. His willingness to learn, listen and his attention to detail is an amazing skill. He pushes and probes at the process of shoe-making and asks questions of leather working: how to become more efficient, precise and get the best out of the material.When working alongside an experienced Saddlery, Ed was drawn to the robust, heavy-duty objects made from workable leathers and fixings. From this, his interest has stemmed from the visceral and physical relationship between hands, material and object. His own practice then led him to make belts and pouches from local sourced vegetable tanned leather.

Emma is a Society of Master Saddlers qualified Saddler and Bridle Maker. Emma set up her business earlier this year (2022) specialising in making and fitting bespoke bridles and other tack as well as offering a leather repair service.
She completed a 3 year apprentice from 2018-2021 which was funded by The Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust and won 1st prize and a premium award for her saddle at The Worshipful Company of Saddlers National Saddlery Competition in 2021.Emma remains passionate in using her saddlery and leatherworking skills to improve the welfare and comfort of horses, particularly in her local area (Glasgow and west central Scotland).

In particular, his work is heavily involved in the cultural and historical sector and as a result, his crafts have contributed to reviving and promoting Scottish culture and heritage.He is very focused on the environment, with the products he uses only coming from sustainable tanneries around the world. Kindred also only uses wood that is FSC certified or that is collected by himself as deadwood on forest floors or driftwood.

After years of a normal office job, Kingsley was bored of normal office life and wanted something to take him away from the computer and creatively challenge him. He was inspired to take up leatherwork as things he was buying werenât lasting and he wanted to start creating quality leather products that would last.
A few months of practising led to his work being noticed by his friends and family, which led to his first set of commissions. After creating a leather satchel for his girlfriend, a wallet for his brother, and plenty of belts, Kingsley decided to offer his services to the paying public. Since then, he has never looked back and now works full time as a leatherworker.Kingsley continues to show and develop great skill, and his work was acknowledged when he was a finalist of the 2022 Etsy Design Awards.

Lucy has always loved with working with horses and dogs. This encouraged her to move to Enfield, London in 2016 to pursue a career in saddlery. During her time in Enfield, Lucy embarked on a 2-year Saddlery course with Capel Manor College where she gained the essential skills to start her business, The Irish Saddler.

Rachel studied at Capel Manor College for two years before training in saddle fitting at a saddlery in Devon and started working with David Dyer Saddles in May 2019. Rok is a full time leather worker and saddler from Slovenia
He got into the industry because of  his love of rollerblading, after having to learn to repair his jeans on a regular basis! After having a really nice bag that needed a repair he decided to make one for himself which in his words were a disaster but after a few more tries and lots of practice he was able to create a bag which he loved and has now been working with leather for 10 years.All of his items are made using the best products, hand sewn, hand skived and made to order.

CoH Samuel Belasco joined the Household Cavalry as a Trooper aged 18 where he served for 2 years before he started his apprenticeship for a role in the Saddlers Shop. After 5 years of multiple theory and practice exams he finished the apprenticeship with a qualification form the Society of Saddlers.
As a Saddler, he is responsible for the correct sizing, fitting, security and quality of tack & saddles for each individual horse within the Regiment!
Now a Master Saddler of The Household Cavalry he also assesses the City & Guilds exams for upcoming apprentices and students as well as judging at the National Saddlery Competition. Â As if this isnât enough, he has his own business SB Collars where he creates custom made dog collars, leather and Saddlery goods by hand.

The London Leather Workshop
Sara and Melissa are the designers and makers and the founders of The London Leather Workshop.
After graduating in Fashion & Accessory Design, they  worked in different sectors of the industry both in Italy and the UK until they pursued their idea of creating a business, blending their joint range of expertise. This is how The London Leather Workshop was born in 2012.
With 20 years of experience in the field, they each have developed different strengths and skillsets and, as a team, they can offer a vast range of services under one roof, from design consultancy to product development and from prototyping to material sourcing and manufacturing.Today, The London Leather Workshop assists national and international customers, from startups to established brands and has been helping to form the latest generation of designers and makers through a wide range of learning opportunities.
They are also proud to partner with The Princeâs Trust Enterprise Programme, supporting young entrepreneurs at the early stages of their business development by delivering free training to these individuals and we are very grateful for the opportunity to continue sharing, educating and supporting those in our community

Signe Dreyer
Signe Dreyer is a trained saddle maker through The Society of Master Saddlers from Capel Manor College, where she has made several saddles from scratch, as well as various bridles and harnesses.
In England she also took a course in saddle fitting, and subsequently she has worked with saddle fitting, new sale of saddles, adjustments, repairs etc. in established saddle making companies.
She is working towards becoming a Master Saddler starting with entering the National Saddlery Competition with a saddle and winning Class 3a.Â
Signeâs passion for horses started early in childhood and it has not diminished over the years. She is an active hobby rider who enjoys a good ride in the woods, but also rides an LA in dressage every now and then with her faithful partner Callaghan.Â

Zoe Hurst
Zoe studied Leatherworking at Capel Manor College and is currently completing the Friends of the Cotswolds Craft Apprenticeship at Cirencester Saddlery guided by Master Saddler Laurence Pearman.
Competing in the Society of Master Saddlers (SMS) Competition at BETA International and also Herefordshire County Show, Zoe placed third in the Trainee Harness class, first overall and won the Overall Entried Special Award. She was awarded the Coach Harness Makers Bursary at the end of her first year training and the Graduate Bursary at the end of her second year, and has completed her Level 3 Bespoke Saddler qualification.Zoe is a Society of Master Saddlers Qualified Saddler.Â

Our top 40 makers will be celebrated across our social channels, as well as having the opportunity to experience an exclusive masterclass workshop with the BBCâs Repair Shop star, Suzie Fletcher, Master Saddler. The 40 successful makers will be invited to attend this event in the autumn of 2022.

Suzie Fletcher, Master SaddlerWhen sheâs not filming for the BBCâs Repair Shop, Suzie specialises in saddle making, especially for women, saddler repair, overhaul and retro fitting of saddles as well as restorations for leathergoods and leather furniture.
