ABBEY'S 40TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

ABBEY IS TURNING 40

This month, Abbey is turning 40 and our Foundry is turning 190.

Something we think is worthy of celebrating.

For every order placed this month, we will be donating £2 to two deserving causes.

Half of the funds will go towards the planting of trees at Blenheim Palace and the other half will be donated to the Windsor Horse Rangers Children’s Charity.

OUR TWO CHARITIES

Tree planting

HELP PLANT A TREE AT BLENHEIM PALACE

Blenheim Palace are on a mission to plant 1,000 trees. They will only be planting native species of hardwoods including oak, cherry, walnut and beech to protect and support our precious ecological system.

With our donations we expect to help plant approximately 200 new trees. The trees will be planted within their 2,000 acre World Heritage Site. This means they are guaranteed to be left unmarked as nature intended for future generations.

WINDSOR HORSE RANGERS

WHO THEY ARE

Windsor Horse Rangers is a volunteer led educational charity, which give children, who would not normally be able to, the chance to interact with horses and ponies. They have 24 horses and ponies ranging from Shetland ponies to a shire horses. These animals are loved and cared for by 180 children aged between 8 and 18 who spend 3 to 8 each Saturday or Sundary at the farm. At Rangers, the children are taught every aspect of how to look after a horse from getting them ready to ride to cleaning up after them.

THE DIFFERENCE THEY MAKE

Windsor Horse Rangers help children with 'challenging' behaviour, children with autism and anxiety, who all benefit from the activities provided, as well as several children from low income families who could not afford riding school prices. Their waiting list of 740 children shows the demand for the services they provide.

WHAT DIFFERENCE WILL DONATIONS MAKE

Donations will contribute towards the cost of rebuilding  the menage, where riding lessons take place. Currently, the menage is incredibly hard (which is not ideal if children fall off or for the veteran horses suffering from arthritis), and floods after heavy rain. They are looking to completely remove the menage surface, install new drainage channels and rebuild a supportive, long-lasting, all-weather surface for their horses and children.

The total cost to undergo this upgrade is £57,045.

To date, they have managed to raise £15,000 for the menage project internally through running summer camps, selling second hand uniform, tombolas, dog shows and various other fundraising events, so are greatly appreciative of donations.
