Abbey England Social Sustainability Statement

Abbey England continually aims to improve the local communities both in Knutsford, Cheshire and Walsall, West Midlands as well as the Equestrian trade around the UK. It supports apprenticeships, education and our continued work with the various Worshipful Companies from the City of London who are concerned with the trade especially the Saddlers, The Leathersellers and the Loriners.

Abbey will endeavour to support these communities through the following objectives:

• We will maintain our annual scholarship prize supporting leather working skills and apprenticeships.

• We will continue to support the Society of Master Saddlers at its annual prize giving.

• We will continue to give a voice to the many thousands of leather workers in the UK.

• We will continue to try and support the crafts of saddlery and lorinery in Walsall that made the town famous around the world through our continued wish to manufacture in the UK

• We will continue to try and produce those items that are essential for the art of saddlery and harness making that cannot be sourced elsewhere due to the volume and the quality required.

• We will continue to support local education in Cheshire when asked through attendance at school Jobs markets

• We will continue to support all saddlery education facilities such as Saddlery Training in Salisbury, Capel Manor College in Enfield and the Walsall Saddlery Skills Centre.
